Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Short version: we use cookies to make the site work properly, understand how visitors use it, and — since some of our links are affiliate links — to track when a visit to a partner site came from Index. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device when you visit, letting the site remember information about your visit — like your preferences, or whether you've seen a particular banner before. They're used by nearly every website on the internet in some form, and Index is no exception.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for a few specific purposes:

TypePurpose
Essential cookiesRequired for the site to function properly — basic navigation, security, and page loading.
Analytics cookiesHelp us understand which pages get visited and how people navigate the site, so we can improve it.
Affiliate tracking cookiesWhen you click an affiliate link, a cookie records that the referral came from Index, so we can be credited if you later subscribe or purchase.
Advertising cookiesIf we display ads (including through Google AdSense), these may be used to show relevant ads and measure their performance.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on Index are set by third-party services we use, not by us directly. This includes:

  • Google Analytics (or similar) — to understand site traffic and usage patterns
  • Google AdSense — if we display ads, for ad relevance and performance measurement
  • Affiliate networks and partners — to track referrals from Index to their sites
  • Embedded content — if we embed a video or widget from another site, that site may set its own cookies

These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies governing how they use this data, separate from ours.

How to Control Cookies

Most web browsers let you control cookies through their settings — you can typically block all cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, or delete cookies that have already been set. Check your browser's help section for exact steps, since this varies slightly between Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and others.

Keep in mind that blocking essential cookies may affect how well the site functions, and blocking affiliate tracking cookies means we won't be credited for a referral even if you do end up subscribing to a tool we recommended — though this has no effect on the price you pay.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. There's currently no universal standard for how websites should respond to this signal, so Index does not currently change its behavior based on Do Not Track browser settings, though you can still control cookies directly through your browser as described above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically as our site or the services we use change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
