Affiliate Disclosure
Short version: some links on Index are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or how we rank tools.
Why We're Telling You This
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires websites to clearly disclose affiliate relationships, and honestly, we'd want to tell you even if it weren't required. If a site is making money from a recommendation, you deserve to know that before you decide whether to trust it.
Index is supported partly through affiliate partnerships with some of the AI tools listed in our directory. This page explains exactly how that works, so there's no confusion about it.
What Is an Affiliate Link?
An affiliate link is a special tracking link that tells a company we referred you to them. If you click that link and later sign up, subscribe, or make a purchase, that company pays us a commission — usually a percentage of what you spend, or a flat fee for a signup.
Where You'll Find Affiliate Links on Index
Affiliate links may appear in:
- Tool review pages, in "Visit [Tool]" or similar buttons
- Our Best AI Tools rankings
- Our Deals page, for discount codes and offers
- Blog posts that mention or recommend specific tools
- Comparison and "vs" style articles
Not every tool we mention has an affiliate program, and not every link on the site is an affiliate link — plenty are just regular links to a tool's website with no financial relationship attached.
Does This Affect Our Rankings or Reviews?
No — and this is the part we want to be genuinely clear about, not just say for appearances.
Every tool on Index is scored using the same criteria regardless of whether it has an affiliate program with us: ease of use, output quality, pricing fairness, and reader feedback. A tool with no affiliate relationship can outrank a tool that does, and does, regularly. If a tool is mediocre, we say so in the review, whether or not clicking through would earn us anything.
We don't accept payment in exchange for a better ranking or a more favorable review. Sponsored content, if we ever run it, will always be clearly labeled as sponsored — never mixed in with our independent reviews and rankings.
Why We Use Affiliate Links
Running a site like this — testing tools, writing reviews, keeping listings updated — takes real time and, eventually, real cost as it grows. Affiliate commissions are one of the ways we keep Index free for readers to use, without needing to charge for access or bury the site in intrusive ads.
We think this is a reasonable trade, as long as it's disclosed honestly and doesn't compromise the actual recommendations — which is the whole point of this page.
Your Choices
You're never obligated to use our affiliate links. If you'd prefer to go directly to a tool's website without using our link, that's completely fine — you'll pay the same price either way, and you're welcome to use whichever path you're comfortable with.
